Project 1: Final Version
So here is the final version of my vector project. I reduced the size of the seagull to appear more proportional to my character although I believe that in proof preview the dulling out of the colors helps Annabelle to blend in more. I meant to go for a more anime look but because I believed Annabelle stood out from the background too much I decided to give her a much more complex shading and etc.
Silly Bands
I don't know that we are supposed to have a theme but at least four of these are so typical of me. Guitar, Sparrow, Wolf, and Rose. The last two are lips and PacMan guy xD
Project 1: Background
So originally, I wanted to do a scenario of my character on the school grounds with a friend but after going over a few sketches (the bottommost included) I decided it was a bit more complex than I wanted to go for. The bottom sketch was going to be chaos in the bandroom where Annabelle had thrown an apparent fit.
Reevaulating, I decided to go to one of my favorite scenes - the beach. In particular, I wanted to get the dock from which you can see the boardwalk (Santa Cruz, Ca.) from afar. I did not sketch in the Boardwalk amusement park and did not add it to the final version of the background because it became more difficult.
I also added a seagull to get more of the taste of the coast.

Project 1: Conceptualizing My Character
How it came about
So the first thing there is to understand about me is that I'm a writer, its my life's passion and what I have been doing forever. And before that, I was at least always a story-teller. This means I have tons of characters jumbled around in my head. The idea of my stories to life in another medium is what initially inspired me to began drawing.
One of my earliest works was a story about a girl with bi-polarity and drastic personality shift have suffering physical head and emotional trauma after being in a car accident with her mother and brother, both who died in the accident. And guy with ADHD who is constantly transferring to new schools due to his single parent father's military position. He consequently displays an introverted attitude and is quickly labeled as a troublemaker.
Recently I have decided to revisit this story; I had started a painting of Annabelle. Annabelle struck me as a very interesting character visually and emotionally, and I feel that she deserves a little more love.
Although, obviously from my rough I have done of her, her design was already visualized. Truth is, even though it had been years, the image of her remained clear in my head as all of my characters - no matter how mountainous a collection they become.
However for the sake of the project, I decided to look up images that would probably aid the creative process anyway.

My 'Artist of the Day'
Aaron Acevendo is an artist of various talents. His
facilities include web design, page design, logo design, cartography, and
abstract art – however the work I most appreciate him for are his illustrations
and cover designs! Acevendo has works within titles that I have loved: The Wheel of Time, A Song of Ice and Fire, and Dungeons and Dragons. His styles is an
amazingly fresh joining of photo-realism and fantasy. He creates worlds and
stories (or aids stories) through his illustrations with an immaculate ability
to render something believable, with a demonstrated understanding of the elements
he works with and imagination.
His work really inspires me! And best yet, he watched me back on deviantArt <3
A bit about me
The name is Cynthia Macabuhay but usually I go by Cindy Mac - or one or the other. Usually I just sign my work with a CLMac♥
Since maybe junior high, I had always been set on entering the medical field as most of my family (so far, all four siblings who have graduated high school are under various medical occupations) - since high school I had been working at medical centers and hospitals. But I had a sudden epiphany while my siblings discussed dissecting a cadaver and I realized I was nowhere nearly as interested as they were. In fact, they had a wonderful experience at the hospitals and I never cared for it. Don't get me wrong though, I am not squeamish. So I pondered a future in this field if I didn't even like it now.
I have always admired video game art, CGI, digital effects on movies, computer animations, concepts, matte paintings, illustrations, etc. Admired is too small a word - I've been awed and inspired, it sends my imagination in a whirl, but I never considered it as a career option - until now. I don't know if I have what it takes but I'd like to explore the direction. I feel more keen on it by the day♥ And this is my reason for this class - at least, I hope to learn as much as I can because no matter what, I think art will remain in my life. I am also taking Art10ab Drawing Fundamentals. Thankfully, I am blessed enough with the economic stability that allows me to be 'undecided'.
My current favorite artists is the PHENOMENAL Johannes Voß aka algenpfleger @ deviantart.com
